@Nate - great to hear, and thank you! So far, this is one of the best blueberry beers I've tried because its got the blueberry-thing in check. Not too strong.

I've also tried the Blue Point Toasted Lager which was a very nice beer. (I don't think I reviewed it though.)

Well I just got back from a Holiday trip to New York. I was actually finally able to try many of the craft beers that you boys rave about here!

Thanks to a very good mate of mine from Long Island I was able to spend some time with creators of above beer. The community in Patchogue is pretty close knit and my buddy knows the brewers quite well (as he lives 200m from the brewery).

With all of this being said, I finally tried the Blueberry from Blue Point and loved it. Living where I do, we don't get too many beers that are not:
a) aligned to the Reinheitsgebot, or
b) Strong, Belgian styled beers, or
c) mass produced like Heiniken

So it was really cool to get my hands on this beer and couldn't agree with the 4 star rating more. I really enjoyed that had all of the characteristics of a normal beer, but with not-so-subtle nor not-to-strong blueberry flavour.

I'll hopefully have some more bluepoint brews on my site soon enough.

Cheers fellas.

I agree totally on both blueberry beers... However, if you are a foody, like I am, and you like to cook with beer, as I do, the Wild Blue makes an EXCELLENT syrup or sauce base for pancakes and dessert foods. I cooked it down with a little butter, ruducing by 3/4, and put it over some vanilla bean ice cream with cobbler crumbles, and it was the BOMB. Try it.

@jake - thanks for the comment and suggestion. I've heard of Sweetwater Blue, but I don't think I've seen anything from those guys up here in Jersey. :-( I've had the Sunset Wheat loooooong ago, but its an interesting comparison you make.

checkout sweetwater blue if you can get ahold of it. sweetwater's located in atlanta georgia (website: http://www.sweetwaterbrew.com/) and ships throughout most of the southeast anyway...i don't know about the rest of the country. i think sweetwater 420 is their flagship, but i hate it. its an ipa, and i hate ipa's. sweetwater blue is delicious though, it's actually become one of my main beers. on a weird note, i just tried leinenkugel's sunset wheat the other night, and was surprised by how much it tasted like sweetwater blue.

Well I just came home with Wild Blue for the first time and wanted to learn more about it, googled it and found this review. I am a HUGE fan of blueberry beer and purchased Wild Blue as an alternative to the blueberry beer I have regularly. I have never heard of Blue Point but will definitely try to find it. I am from Atlanta, Georgia and we have a brewery here called Sweetwater and they make the best blueberry beer I have ever had, MUST TRY IT!!! After reading your review of Wild Blue I can assure you I am not going to like it. But please try Sweetwater Blue, it is the best!!!

I had one blueberry beer, once upon a time, and I have no idea who brewed it. It was decent, but like the raspberry beers favored here in the Midwest, I am not a HUGE fan of fruity beers. But maybe I'll try to hunt down a Blue Point.

When I tried the Blueberry Ale from Blue Point, I def don't think it's the best blueberrry beer out there, but it definitely was 110% more enjoyable than the Wild Blue from A. Busch. It seemed to me that the blueberry taste was a bit on the strong side, but nothing overwhelming, so overall I think it was a decent beer. Would I purchase a six pack at the store or a at a restaurant, probably not, but if it was offered to me, I'd definitely have it again. By far, I think the best Berry Beer out there is Blackbeary Wheat from Long Trail.
