So the question is, What’s the best Lime flavored beer? I’m still pretty impressed how many people end up at The Brew Club website as a result of Liz’s recent review of Bud Light Lime.
Bud Lime has generated quite a buzz in the beer market, as it has on our own website! As a matter of fact, most of the people who commented on the Bud Lime post were in disagreement with our reviewer (hey, that’s cool!) and stated that they actually LOVED the Bud Light Lime!
So, in the name of science, The Brew Club has put up a little poll on our website where anyone can vote for the Best Lime Flavored beer! BL Lime, Miller Chill, the old standby Corona and lime, and the last contestant in this Lime Flavored Beer death-match, Blue Moon “Rising Moon” .
The only lime flavored beer that has not been reviewed as of yet here on The
Brew Club is Miller Chill, and technically we didn’t review the Corona with lime either, but hey, what can you do? We’ll have to remedy that situation somehow and try to get a sample to review for our readers. (Anyone want to submit a guest review of Miller Chill???)
So, what’s YOUR favorite Lime Flavored Beer? Bud Light Lime, Miller Chill, Corona with lime, Blue Moon Rising Moon, something else maybe??? Feel free to vote in our “What’s the Best Lime Flavored Beer” poll located on the right of this page, leave a comment, or better yet, vote AND leave a comment! We love to hear our reader’s opinions and registration is not required!

Give me a PO box number (email me if you don’t want to spread it around) and I’ll send you a typically Aussie beer to taste.
Love the site.
Thankfully we in the UK have been spared lime flavour beer, I think Becks may have but I suspect it’s only a matter of time.
Having said that, there is a tradition of adding a slug of lime cordial (or occasionally blackcurrant cordial) to lager. This sweetens the beer and tends to be popular with ‘the ladies’ or with youngsters who are new to the taste of ‘beer’.
Well I don’t think you could go past the latest beer to hit the shelves in Australia – ZEST Beer – Lime! It’s super refreshing and whilst it still has the beer taste, it does come complete with a citrus hit of lime. ZEST Beer also comes in Lemon too.
All I can say is that I LOVE Bud Light Lime. I’m Canadian, and I became familiar with it on a trip down to North Dakota. About a week later we found out that it came to Canada.
About a week after that, my cousin and I were picking up beer for his wedding, and we asked the Liquor Commission about Bud Light Lime. They said you cannot find it ANYWHERE. It sold out across Winnipeg in 2 days. No LC or beer vendor had any left. More came in about a week later with the same result. You still cannot find it anywhere. It is a phenomenon. IF you’re lucky enough to find some early in the week, BUY IT. Come Thursday or Friday you won’t find it anywhere again. I’m yet to find some, unless I go to a local pub/restaurant.
Another lime beer not listed here is Cactus Lime Lager in Canada. It’s very similar to Bud Light Lime, but it’s not a light beer, it’s 5%.
I enjoy BL lime, but am a huge fan of Michelob Ultra Lime Cactus
Cactus Lime Lager made by Russell Brewing in Vancouver is outstanding! Enjoyed a few cold ones on the patio of the infamous Cactus Club Cafe (similar name but I don’t think there’s an affiliation to the beer.) What a great beer! Much better than the Bud Light Lime in my opinion.
Best by far is Miller Chill. Not too much lime and very refreshing. Only 100 calories.
No way, Miller Chill is one of the worst in my opinion. I like alot of lime flavor, so I don’t like that one very much. This is my order:
1. Moosehead Light Lime
2. Russell Cactus Lime Lager
3. Bud Light Lime
4. (Tie) Big Rock Light Lime / Miller Chill
i like bud light lime have not tried moosehead lime yet
I recently returned from vacation in Darwin, Northern Territory, Australia. I tried a beer called “Barefoot Radler”. Infused with lime, its the best way to beat the heat. I know what Im stocking the fridge with for Christmas!!
Definantly reccomend Cactus Lime! I also make sure to bring home Miller Chill when visiting in the United States. I remember trying Bud Light Lime when I was in the US, then a couple months later it came to Canada and hit huge here in the Okanagan, BC. I would imagine Miller Chill will take the next wave when/if it makes it here. Not a huge fan of Big Rock in my opinion.
Interesting stuff! My personal favorite is still the Blue Moon spring seasonal Rising Moon? Just a little lime, but even still its not a favorite flavor in my beer.

Moosehead light lime
bud light lime
but nothing beatsa cold corona with a slice of leim on a hot day!
Try the new Blue Light Lime. It’s made at the Genesee Brewery in Rochester NY. The new owners of Genesee also own the rights to Labatt in the U.S. and they came out with Blue Light Lime about a month ago after tasting the other leading “lime” beers and determining most were too “limey”. I think the beer tastes great, is crisp, and has a subtle lime taste that is not overwhelming.
Blue Light Lime? I’ll keep an eye out for it, a lot of their stuff makes it down to Jersey. I’m really not a huge fan of lime-tainted beers, but I’ll give anything a try once! Thanks again for the suggestion!

Moosehead Light Lime!
Check all those hundreds of German” Radler ” beers from http://www.bierclub.net
Also Bitburgers mixes : www. bit-world.net & Wittmann`s new LA Lime
Big Rock Lime
Thanks Ashley – never heard of that one!

I would have to say Miller Chill is the best because it has a hint of lime. It still preserves the beer taste. Bud light lime is ok, but it tastes more like a 7-up than an actual beer. That’s why it probably became so popular with the semi-beer drinkers.
I have also tried the Moose head lime which is similar to the Miller Chill. The worst of all the limes is the Big rock lime. It is like adding lime to a regular Canadian beer with a stronger beer taste. I guess I grew up with lime in a lighter tasting beer. I know Corona is not officially a light beer, but it tastes like one (For those who don’t know what I am talking about, we (being us older folk) added lime to Corona beer ourselves–but we did not have to walk up hill both ways….we rode the school bus).
Thanks for sharing Mark! I haven’t seen Big Rock or Moose Head in Jersey though.

I disagree Mark. I feel that Miller Chill is very similar in taste to Big Rock. Moosehead Light Lime has the strongest taste of lime, but I feel it’s also the best.
Still haven’t seen any ratings on Blue Light Lime which I feel is far superior to ALL the lime beers. Has anyone seen it yet?
I only heard of Blue Light Lime today…I don’t believe it’s available in Canada, which is where I am.
Just did some research, I’ve only read negative comments about the beer.
Labatt Light Lime? Never heard of this beer until today either. I’ll keep a eye out for it but I’m not expecting too much out if it!

I personally prefer Blue Light Lime because the lime is more subtle and it tastes more like an actual beer. Bud’s product is WAY to limey, Corona is terrible beer to start with, Miller is OK. Haven’t had any of the other ones though. Can’t seem to get Moosehead in Rochester NY.
Definitely Blue Light Lime….if you like Lime that is….good stuff in the Spring/Summer….but Bud Light Lime is AWFUL!!!!!
We’ve tried most of them mentioned but so far our favorite is Mickiloeb’s Ultra Lime Cactus.
It stands tops over Bud Lime, Miller Lime…..
Our biggest complaint is when we go to the beach, we have to take just plain Ultra Lite .. because the Cactus Lime ins’t available in their tall skinny cans around here. We did find it one while traveling but can’t remember where…… Guess I should as de Busch after he gets out of jail….. oh that’s right, money talks and stays out of jail.
@Dennis – Thanks. I haven’t tried the Ultra Lime Cactus. I don’t think I’ve even seen it in NJ!
I tried the Michelob one before, but I wasn’t too impressed. They do have a beer that has a grapefruit flavor which is pretty good imo.
Don’t think I’ve seen that one! I’d give it a try though, why not?
No question:
ultra lime Cactus….. leaves all of them way behind……
I would have to say, BL Lime is a very refreshing beverage on a hot Saturday afternoon after doing some gardening. I tried some this past winter to chase away the December Blues but the weather *must* be hot and humid in order for BL Lime to be enjoyable.
- Mike in Maryland
Thanks, Mike. Environment can certainly make a beer taste better!
Just tried the new Molson Canadian 67 Sublime. Pretty much tastes just like Bud Light Lime. As their selling point is that it’s only 67 calories there’s only 3% alcohol.
@Glen – Thanks for that. Never heard of that one!
No problem Scott. It’s new, just came out a week or two ago.
I had a stroke which greatly limited my ability to eat or drink.Thinks that are of a citrus nature helps me to swallow and to taste. I found that the only beers I can drink are the ones with lime added to the mix.I’ve only three and I rate them as follows:Number one by far for me was the Labatt’s lime. It’s not really a light beer beer.It has 115 cal. but 8.4 carbs. so if your looking for a beer to drink on a diet;this may not be your choice. But,I have to say that it is full- bodied with great flavor. My second would be Miller Chill. It has 100 cal. but only 4 carbs. It does taste a little watery if you had a Labatt’s but it’s easy to down a few.My last place goes to Bud Lime. I do not care for the taste and where I live;it was the most expensive. For me,if I’m going to the gym;I’ll treat myself to Labatt’s so as not to be La Fatt.If I couching it,It’s the Miller Chill.I leave the Bud Lime at the store.
@James – Interesting that the citrus helps you. I haven’t seen the Labatt’s around NJ (the lime anyway) but I’ll keep it in mind. Thanks for commenting! Cheers!
Why hasn’t anyone mentioned Michelob Ultra Lime Cactus. It beats Bud and Miller by a mile!!
@Dennis – good question! I haven’t had it either, so I can’t say anything about it really.
@Dennis: I have to disagree. I’ve tried just about every lime beer out there including Michelob Ultra Lime, Bud Light Lime, Moosehead Light Lime, Big Rock Light Lime, Russel Cactus Lime Lager, Miller Chill, Molson Canadian 67 Sublime. I haven’t tried Labatt Blue Lime yet.
If you want a strong lime taste, Moosehead Light Lime is the best. Followed by Bud Light Lime, and Molson Canadian 67 Sublime (the last two are very similar in taste). I found Michelob, Big Rock, and Miller Chill to be among the least flavorful.
I THINK IF YOU DONT LIKE BUD LIME YOUR NUTS!ITS CHEAPER THAN CORONA, AND TASTES ABOUT THE SAME!YOU EVER TRY CORONA WITHOUT THE LIME? YUCK!! I WILL STICK TO MY BUD LIGHT LIME THANK YOU!! IF YOUR LOOKING FOR A CHEAP GREAT TASTING BEER, LOOK NO FURTHER! BUD LIGHT LIME WINS HANDS AND FEET DOWN!!!!!!!!!!!
