My wife and I each just had a bottle of the Christmas Ale. I know it’s a little late in the season but we couldn’t get it until we went to NY last week. Can't find it anywhere in CT. I have been reading some reviews and don't agree with all of them. I think this review is pretty similar to what we tasted.

Poured from a 12 oz. bottle into a pint glass. Poured a dark amber with a frothy tan head. Much darker than anticipated. Great head retention with a prominent lacing down the glass. Slight head on the beer down to the last sip.

Aroma of spices and sweet sugar (almost like candy). No hop presence but malts are present.

Body is medium and lighter than anticipated for a winter brew. I feel that I tasted a little chocolate or coffee. My wife didn't think so but I’m sticking to it. Taste is malty with a toasted earthy flavor. I don't get the ginger but maybe cloves and cinnamon. Slight hop after taste balanced by the malts. Little carbination.

My wife and I both enjoyed this beer. I would but it again next year but don't think I can handle more than two in a sitting. I will give it a 3/5.
