@Billy - must have missed your comment somehow, sorry! That's interesting. Did it work? I know lactating mothers and alcohol are typically frowned upon these days, but what did you think?

St. Peters Creme Stout? I've done a bunch of St. Peters recently but I think I missed that one. Now that you've mentioned it, I'll keep it in mind as their stuff is fairly accessible here in NJ. I'm a big fan of Milk/Cream stouts and I'll try any of them that I can get my hands on. So far, I think the Left Hand Milk Stout was the best of the bunch, but this one from Lancaster is no slouch!

Wow... talk about piquing my curiosity. And of course it doesn't exist anywhere in my area that I can find (Los Angeles). Damn you Beer Gods!! Raaaaghhhhh

I love this style of beer. Although I've found it can be very hit or miss. The one most people might have familiarity with is the St. Peter's Cream Stout (have you had that?) which is a nice entry point.

I REALLY want to try this beer; if I do I'll report back.

>"How times have changed since the 19-aughts, huh?"

Not as much as you might think, When our daughter was born, some friends brought us beer for my wife. Apparently alcohol clears breast milk in 2-3 hours, but boosts milk production...

Milk Stouts are one of my favorite beer styles. Gimme more! I did try the Duck Rabbit actually and thought it was pretty good. I think I liked this one from Lancaster and Left Hand's Milk Stout a little better though. We did a guest post on The Beer Fathers if you want to check out my thoughts on The Duck Rabbit milk stout.

I just recently got turned on to Milk Stouts. They have become my favorite beer by far. I would also mention Duck Rabbit has a nice one if you can find it.

I like a good milk stout. The first I had was probably Mackeson's. Left Hand makes a good one (especially on tap). I would advise against Farson's Lacto. At least I didn't like it. It is interesting to see how brewing terminology is used in different contexts. I've seen Cream Stouts defined in various ways. I know that these contain lactose...I've made a Milk Stout once and it is worth re-visiting. But I've also see the terminology used in quite a different way as well, especially as it relates to "Cream Ales" (including Cream Stouts). In addition to the use of Lactose, there is a lagering process that goes into many beers that are called "cream" this or that. I've heard of both Lager and Ale yeast being used in the process as well. I've even heard of Lager being blended into an Ale in order to create a cream ale, stout, or whatever. Just thought that this would be a poignant addition to the conversation.
