Your expertise in Texas leaves me assured (after our two-year blog on this subject) that Negra Modela is probably the best of the easily available beers on the market in the taste buds of beer affectionados.

I am fortunate enough to live in the crazy state of Texas where we have more Mexican beer choices than most non-border states. I am partial to negra modelo but never say no to dos equis. Bohemia isn't one of my favorites although alot of people seem to like it. Fortunately I'm heading down to Brasil in 12 days and among other things, estou indo bebendo muitos chopp quando eu chegar ai. We don't see too much Brasillian cerveja here in the US. O que pena. But I will gladly share ny own preferences when I get there.

Thanks Dwayne for your thoughts! I'd agree on the Corona avoidance, but I think I'd downgrade Pacifico a little since the first time I tried it. Still good though.

Pacifico, hands down the most crisp refreshing beer on a hot summer day. Recently tried Victoria, liked it ok, not as crisp, maybe a little lite. Avoid Corona at all costs, skunky and overcommercialized.

@bea - It does work with Tex-Mex, and I'll order it if I have to, but if it happens to be a BYOB type of Mexican place, I bring a nice APA or IPA which goes GREAT with Mexican food!

You're right, Scott. Mass produced is mass produced. But what else are you usually going to be able to order in a Mexican restaurant, right?

@Celtic Mom - Thanks for the comment!

@bea - I just had a Bohemia (review soon) and thought it was OK. I think I prefer Negra Modelo too, but I'm getting less and less interested in the mass-produced Mexican beers in general I think.

Of the widely available beers, Bohemia used to be my favorite. But as my tastes have drifted to darker brews, I know prefer Negro Modelo.
