This is a decent beer, this has a hint of sweetness. This is not my first choice, but I will drink it on occasion

adding glycerol to a beer reminded me of adding nitrogen to pump up the head. I remember when in Brazil i sampled all the local beers and noticed how dense and creamy the head was if you get it on tap (Chopp) compared to buying it bottled.

Can anyone explain this process?

IPA is the better food pairing with curry, especially the West Coast styles from the US with their high gravity, high IBUs, big floral pine & grapefruit notes.

Thanks for showing us the vid.

Good points all.

I would argue that even a Bud tastes better at an outdoor ballgame than - well anywhere else. Still, I think Bob is one of the more scientific and objective beer reviewers around because he gives each beer a sort of 'quality assurance' by having a second go. He jokes that its for science having two beers, but it really is and I applaud his efforts to be fair.

I think a double check of a beer is a great idea, and it makes his opinions, I think, quite valuable from an objective standpoint.

Personal tastes are a whole different can of worms, but that's the X factor which makes beer reviewing so much fun!

Wow, who would have thought? Guess that's the cheap and easy way for better head retention vs. brewing a better beer.

Great writeup and video!

I hear what you say about ambience Michael.

We Brits tends to explore almost as much as Aussies and many of us have a drinks cupboard full of local specialities that tasted good while we were away but are not the same when tried in the cold, grey light of the UK.

I try to remain objective in my reviews and, with the exception of the Lion beers from Sri Lanka, that aren't generally available in the UK, I try each beer at least twice before writing my reviews.

I would still rate Kingfisher as a great lager, and it appears in my beer fridge quite regularly in summertime.

I myself have enjoyed this at a few Indian restaurants. I'm not as enthusiastic about it as you and have tended to reserve it for the purpose of curry. Even though I was in India circa 2000, I didn't try it while there (I was barely 20 at the time). However, ambient can play a role in rating a beer, so who can be contentious about that (and preference for that matter).
