I agree with Melissa. I had both Cusquena beers in Peru and the Dark was my favorite. The waiter and tour guide were trying to communicate something about the Dark but the best they could get out to describe it is - "It will turn you into a bear." I'm no more bear-like than before I drank it. I must say that it was rich and delicious.

Maybe the Cusquena Dark doesn't travel well, or it just tastes better in its home country - like Mekong Whisky!

As for where I found mine, the moniker 'Bob the Brit' gives a clue... I found mine in a supermarket in London.

Cusquena dark is my absolute favorite beer. We were in Peru last year, tasted it and loved it. Only one problem - not able to find it/buy it in US. Please, please, please tell me where you bought it because I've checked every place I could think of even Peruvian restaurants haven't had it. Such a dissapointment not to be able to have it unless we go back to Peru.

Rob and I tried the Asahi "draft" a while back and were pretty unimpressed. Tasted a lot like a coors or bud light, michelob, anything in that generic mass produced lager vein. But I did not even know they produced a black.

I will be on the lookout for this dark version, we may have to give it another chance.
