I had it while in New Jersey.. I loved it, and living in Pa have tried to find it, and honestly I cannot find it at any local bars or places around here.. Dissapointed about that, I will be looking for other varieties (:

Thanks Bob. Wouldn't mind trying something w/a apricot. Any recommendations? As a matter if fact, I recently tried the Abita Satsuma Harvest Wit which I thought was much better with the orange flavors than the Purple Haze was.

Abita stuck a few of these in my variety pack and I have to say it was my least favorite of the bunch. I have had a few berry beers and I just don't care for them. The berry is too artificial and overpowering. If I have to drink a fruit beer, I have found apricot beers to be better.

@Reuben, while its too bad you didn't get to try it, I don't think you really missed much actually! I'm sure being in N.O. for New Years had other highlights!

@Nate, I'm willing to try other Abita brews, so I'll look for Turbodog or the Amber as you suggest. TNX!

I missed out on this while in New Orleans for New years. They were out of it wherever I went. Still one thing bugs me and that is the part about the purée. It is almost as bad as some of the commercial brewers adding corn syrup to the beer. It should be natural, so in the case of fruit beers the fruit should be real fruit and left to ferment in a secondary fermentation vessel before bottling/kegging.

I've had Abita's variety pack and their other selections are much better. In particular I dig their TurboDog and their Amber. I know they carry their variety packs at the Brewers Outlet in Lancaster and at Kirchners'.
