Thanks! Weather it works or not this first time, I'm at least understanding the process in a basic way. I'm having fun, so that's a bonus!

@Brian, thanks for the warm welcome! I'm thinking this might be some kind of pandora's box I'm opening!

@Micheal - Don't you worry - I'm following your series as well! I find that going through this process with the Coopers kit makes everything much more understandable to me. I think that for me anyway, its a great way to introduce myself (and hopefully others) to the hobby.

Not touting our site but read the series with the tips. It's stuff I wish I would have known the first time around. Good luck...I hope it turns out great.

Thanks for the support guys!

@Matt - I've checked out all the kits and I've always thought that the Coopers kit was the best of the bunch. Turns out they are the only maker of the 'all in one' kits that is also an actual brewery so i figure they must know something!

@Jim - if this works out, you bet I'll be doing a stout next! Honestly, Lager, its not my go-to style, but, its what came with the kit so I'm using it. What I plan on doing is trying the bottles from week to week to see if the taste changes or improves over time - supposedly it will. We'll see! They really take a lot of the guesswork out of it which is a good thing for somebody like me! Especially in the beginning. The equipment is good. Maybe not 'professional grade' but certainly something that could be used to make 'real beer'.

@Nate - thanks. Its been fun so far and I'm starting to see what you mean. Not all addictions are bad!

@Bob - While it isn't a snap, the kit makes it pretty easy for a noob like me to at least try it.

I'll look forward to seeing how it works out. Beware though...brewing is addictive.

Go for the stout, Scott, go for the stout! What the hell are you going to do with 6 gallons of lager?! :)

Anyway, you know I'm interested in this series, as I have been toying with the idea of brewing at home. Kits like this are an attractive option for me. I'd love to do an all-grain brew, but this could be a smarter place to start.

I just wish you'd brew something more interesting than the lager with this setup to see if it can make a "real" beer.

Good luck... I experimented with home brewing and winemaking way back when. It certainly looks like things have moved on a bit.

I'm looking forward to episode 2!

It will be interesting to see how this turns out for you. I had an OK experience with the Mr. Beer kit. It made good beer but it's more work than its worth for me. Easier to just buy something!
