@SimplyBeer - This was my first beer from Ramstein, but it definitely won't be my last! I really liked this one, and I'm looking forward to trying others. I'm sorry I missed your last tasting - you had a great lineup including the owner showing up which is very cool. Folks, go check it out! http://www.simplybeer.com/blog/2009/12/30/2797/

Awesome Beer! I had the Owner, Greg Zaccardi at my Last tasting where we featured this beer. He cares a lot about the ingredients and quality of his beer. Unfortunately he only distributes in PA, NJ, NY (basically the border towns of NJ). He also makes an Freeze distilled version of this wheat beer (not a lager) which is like velvet. Unfortunately only available at the brewery.

@Nate - yeah those guys go back awhile! This particular NJ Brewer actually imports all their beer stuff (hops, malts, etc) from Germany. So, its German, but not.

@Bob - glad to help! I actually liked it better than the Aventinus. The ABV is about the same, but in the Ramstein brew the alcohol was not as pronounced. I also dug that Haggis post! I'd try it!

Anything that's compared favourably to a classic like Aventinus works for me.

You've whetted by appetite, I'm off to review a Franciskaner Doppelbock.

I haven't had Ramstein (but I do have an old album from the band), but I love Aventinus. I just discovered two new beer stores in Toledo with sweet and different selections. I'll seek this out on your recommendation. 4 stars from TBC isn't common!
