Yesterday, I was visiting Thank Heaven For Beer, (one of my favorite beer sites) and was reading an excellent post about a funding project for a new brewery.
See, Nate and Mike are one day going to open a brewery of their own (I’m sure of it) and so they are in the process of making that dream come true. One of the daunting issues that need to be addressed is where does one get the money to start such a venture?
Well, it turns out that that Eric Myers of Top Fermented is working on just that issue with his own brewery startup! I don’t know the details of his business plan, but part of what he is doing to raise money for his brewery, Mystery Brewing, is by using an online service called Kickstarter.
The idea is simple, and it allows anyone who loves good beer, or the chance to help someone’s dream come true contribute to that goal. For as little as $5, you can help Eric get this thing off the ground!
Here’s the catch. He’s got to raise 40 grand by July 23 for any of the funding to go through. If he doesn’t get to the $40K mark by then, then no money changes hands. Your card doesn’t get charged, and Eric’s funding for his brewing business doesn’t go through.
So, being one who would love to see this work for Eric, I’ve contributed toward his goal (and so I’m displaying the awesome banner above). I’d suggest you check out the Mystery Brewing Kickstarter page, read up on the project and see if its something you want to help with.
For as little as $5, you can help bring some more great beer into the world, and help a good guy realize his dream. That’s a good deal I think.
If you contribute or not, please consider spreading the word on your own blog, through Facebook, Twitter – where ever you can to spread the word. (There are some share buttons @ the end of the post to make it easy, just click one and you’re on your way to spreading the word!)
Remember, Eric has to raise $40K by July 23! The clock is ticking.
