If you’ve followed The Brew Club for any amount of time, you might already know that I have a strange fascination with Pumpkin Ales. See, I like the concept, but I’ve found that most Pumpkin Ales kind of suck!
Why do I keep trying them then? Who knows! I have found to that are acceptable to me. From 2008 and then verified in 2010, I thought the Smuttynose Pumpkin Ale was decent, and the best from 2009 was Punkin’ from Dogfish Head.
Here, we have the Post Road Pumpkin Ale from our friends at Brooklyn Brewery. Last year, I gave this beer a respectable 2.5 stars.
I remarked that this beer had strong flavor similarities to pumpkin pie, especially with the spices which again came on strong with this beer.
Definitely a Pumpkin Ale to let warm up a bit and a decent choice for the cool weather outside. I’d stick to the 2.5 rating I gave it last year.
PS. I’d like to thank fellow Brew-Clubber Neil for giving me this six-pack of Post Road. Your generosity is appreciated! 🙂 If you have to choose between this or Brooklyn’s Oktoberfest, their other Fall-seasonal, go with the Oktoberfest – its just better.
