Way back in 2010, I thought it might be cool to see if people were making New Year Beer Resolutions, and what they might have been. To make it really easy for people to participate, I put together a little poll that are selfishly things that I might have resolved to do for the New Year.
Unfortunately, we didn’t get too many poll-takers
but that’s OK. I think the poll is interesting regardless and I thought I’d share the results with you.

So, what do we see here? It seems that most people are going to just try as many new beers as possible, which is very cool! Nothing wrong with going back to old favorites, but you’ll never find that new favorite unless you try something new!
I’m also impressed that many people pledged to read more about beer to increase their knowledge on the subject. Great stuff! One of these days I’ll get a Kindle or something and load it up with all the great books on the subject!
23% said they wanted to try home brewing in 2011, which is always a great thing to try. I gave it a shot myself a couple of times with my Coopers Homebrewing Kit, so I understand it to a degree. Still, I’d like to have another go at homebrewing this year with some more interesting recipes. Time is not going to be as plentiful this year for me, but its something I’d like to do more of.
63% of pollsters said they are going to either visit a brewery, or attend at least one beer festival. I think that’s cool too! There’s nothing better than seeing where your favorite beer is ‘born’, and in the case of the beer festivals, nothing beets hanging out with other beer geeks!
I thought this number would be higher, but we had a few people who are going to start up better beer blogs than The Brew Club! That should be easy, and I hope they stop back so we can link to them from our Friends page! Woooo!
So there you go! How’s your New Year resolution going so far, beer or otherwise?

So far keeing up with my diet resolution! I’m working on my first homebrewing project with my son, reading, lots of youtube, gathering equipment. I don’t know if it will be a success, but I AM doing it!
@NJSUX – I think home brewing with you son sound like a great project no matter the result! Please pop back in and let us know how it went!

I don’t have a Kindle (I drive an iPad and love it), but a friend who lives in the US speaks highly about the Barnes and Noble Nook, which isn’t available here in Blighty.
And by all accounts, they’re bringing out a Nook with a coloured screen, which makes it a much more exciting proposition.

@Bob – I’ve seen the color Nook just this weekend and its quite nice! Certainly another option to more easily read books about beer!

Trying new beers seems like the easiest option and must fulfilling.
@Jim – Indeed! Hard to break that resolution!
