I always thought a great Summer beer was the Hefeweizen, and I always thought the best Hefeweizen around was Sierra Nevada’s Kellerweis. But I’m looking for alternatives!

I’ve come to enjoy Smuttynose beers over the years, and don’t really have a problem trying something new from them, but I’ve found a dud with Summer Weizen.

Its hard to put a finger on, and I’ll admit to not having much exposure to Trappist Ales, but I really enjoyed Chimay Grande Reserve. I think its one of the best I’ve had this year and I can see why it gets so much positive attention!
