Magic hat sent me these beers recently!
#9 in a can is apparently a limited release, but I don’t see why shipping cans couldn’t be a regular exercise for them – I guess we’ll see. #9 is a nice beer – in Magic Hat lingo its a ‘not quite pale ale’ which works.
To me, it was a less-hoppy pale ale with hints of apricot or something. I wasn’t crazy about #9 when I first tried it, but I find that I like it more and more as I move along.
“Elder Betty” is a Summer release, and its their twist on the unfiltered wheat beer with berry. It was OK and tastes like a wheat beer with elderberry. Duh.
I’m actually most looking forward to trying “Pistil” which is brewed with dandelion! Neat! Here’s what the makers of this ‘elixer’ say about it.
Pistil is a summer beer unlike any other, brewed with a combination of dandelion petals, Pale and Acidulated malts, flaked oats, and Apollo and Northern Brewer hops that results in a one-of-a-kind beer with a slightly sour acidity and a smooth malt body. Perfect for taking down deep thirst.
I’ll report back on that one when I try it, but in the meantime, thanks Magic Hat PR people for the samples!
