What do you think? Do you find that you favorite beer changes from year to year? This came up several times when discussing various Oktoberfest beers on our Facebook page (which you should check out of you haven’t!).
The one that seemed to come up most often was the Sam Adams Octoberfest. Now, if you’ve followed my ‘writings’ here on The Brew Club for any amount of time, you’ll know I like the Sam Adams seasonal beers, and I’ll usually get a 12 pack for myself for the season.
Now, you also know that I’m not a beer expert, nor do I play one on television. So, when people say “oh the Sam Adams Octoberfest sucked this year”, I’m confused. I had it this year, and I couldn’t really tell if it was any better or worse than last year. To me, it was the same.
So, I’m putting this out there to whoever might read it, like the golden record sent out on the Viking spacecraft with human voices for aliens to play in the future, do you think beers change from year to year? If so, do you think they do as intentional modifications by the brewer, or as fortunate or unfortunate accidents of the brewing process?
Feel free to enlighten!
